Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about creating cartoon lip-sync videos with MonkeyTalker.
What is MonkeyTalker?
MonkeyTalker turns a topic, a script or an audio recording into a finished short video starring a cartoon character, without showing your face on camera. Give it a topic and it researches the subject and writes the script for you; paste your own script; or upload audio and the character says exactly those words. It includes a character builder, 50+ voices, automatic subtitles and a timeline editor, and exports ready for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
How does the lip-sync technology work?
MonkeyTalker synchronizes the character’s mouth movements with your audio at the phoneme level. You can upload your own recording or use text-to-speech with one of 50+ voices; the lip-sync is generated automatically for any audio source and stays sharp in any language.
What cartoon characters are available?
You build your character part by part: faces, mouths, bodies, outfits, accessories and colors, which makes the combinations effectively unlimited. If you want a shortcut, there are 32 ready-made looks, 16 female and 16 male. Paid plans let you save unlimited characters, each with its own voice and style.
Do I need to film anything or have editing experience?
No. There is no camera, studio or lighting involved, and the timeline editor is made for beginners. You write what your character should say and MonkeyTalker generates the voice, the mouth movement, the captions and the cuts. You only open the editor if you want to change something.
How long does it take to create a video?
Rendering takes about 1 to 3 minutes depending on length. Most people go from a blank page to a finished 30-second video in about three minutes. Your first character takes a little longer because you are designing it.
What video formats are supported?
Videos export as MP4 in 9:16 (vertical), 16:9 (landscape) and 1:1 (square), so the same script works for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Facebook and LinkedIn. Paid plans export without a watermark.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan gives you about 1.5 minutes of video per month and one character, with no credit card required. Exports carry a small "Made with MonkeyTalker" watermark. Upgrade only when you need more volume.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Yes on every paid plan. Starter, Creator and Business all include commercial usage rights, and Founding Members keep them forever. Only the free plan is limited to personal use, and its exports carry a watermark.
What happens to unused minutes at the end of the month?
Unused video minutes roll over for up to three months. Anything beyond that cap is removed at renewal. Top-up minutes you buy separately never expire.
What languages and voices are supported?
There are three voice tiers: basic voices on Free, premium voices from Starter ($9) and ultra voices from Creator ($24) with richer expression and multi-language delivery. Lip-sync works in any language, Spanish included.
How is this different from other AI video tools?
Most AI video tools hand you a list of stock human avatars in business attire. MonkeyTalker is built for short-form social video and gives you a cartoon character you design part by part. Your character becomes your on-screen face instead of someone else’s.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account in one click. The plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. No contracts.
Where does the video render?
In the cloud. You hit export, the video renders on AWS Lambda and downloads to your device when it is ready. You do not need a powerful computer.
